Use these daily August journal prompts for happiness and prosperity if you want to make the most out of your summer and get into a positive mindset for the rest of the year.
August is literally my favourite month of the year and it’s not because I am an August baby myself or a Leo queen.
Well, maybe it is but I digress.
As a Mindset & Productivity Coach for perfectionists, I am always preaching about the benefits of journaling to my clients because the benefits far outweigh the cons.
Journaling is so much more than writing down words, it’s about connecting with yourself, celebrating your wins and realigning yourself with your values.
I’ve created these 31 journal prompts to help you get into the right mindset for success, embrace happiness and visualise your most prosperous life.
Why you should journal in August
August is a great time to start journaling because we’re right in the heart of summer when things slow down and the sun is shining (theoretically if you live in the UK like me).
It’s the perfect time for you to reflect on how your summer has been so far and make an effort to maximise your happiness for the rest of the summer/year.
I like to think of August as the ideal time to recharge my social, mental and physical batteries before the dreaded depressing winter arrives.
31 daily August journal prompts
Week 1: Gratitude for the present moment
- What are three things you are grateful for today?
- Write about a recent positive experience and why it made you happy
- List three people in your life who you are grateful for
- Describe a place that brings you peace and gratitude
- What aspects of your health are you grateful for?
- Reflect on a challenge you’ve overcome and the gratitude you feel for the strength it gave you
- Summarise your feelings of gratitude from the past week in 1 paragraph
Week 2: Creating and developing happiness
- What activities bring you the most joy and why?
- Write about a time when you laughed uncontrollably
- List three things that always put you in a good mood
- Describe your perfect day from start to finish
- What are your happiest childhood memories?
- Write about a person who makes you happy and why
- Reflect on the happiness you’ve experienced this week
Week 3: Visualising and manifesting prosperity
- What does prosperity mean to you beyond financial wealth?
- List three ways you can attract more prosperity into your life
- Describe a moment when you felt truly prosperous/fulfilled
- Write about the skills and talents you possess that contribute to your success
- How can you create an abundant mindset?
- Visualise your future prosperous self. What does your life look like?
- Summarise how focusing on prosperity has influenced your week
Week 4: Maintaining happiness, gratitude and prosperity in your life
- Write about a habit you can develop to make sure your happiness is consistent
- What small daily actions can you take to maintain a gratitude practice?
- Describe a routine that helps you start the day with a positive mindset
- How can you spread happiness to others in your community?
- What are you grateful for in your current job or career?
- Reflect on the effects of practising gratitude has on your overall happiness
- Summarise your thoughts on sustaining happiness and gratitude
Week 5: Deeper reflection and looking forward to the future
- What were the highlights of this month in terms of happiness and gratitude?
- What lessons have you learned about prosperity in August?
- How will you incorporate the lessons you have learnt into the rest of your year?

There is something so beautiful about journaling in the evening when the air is still warm and the sun is still shining so I hope you enjoy using these journal prompts as much as I did.
But also, I want you to know that there is no right or wrong way to journal. You can follow the order of these journal prompts or you can mix and match depending on your mood. How you choose to journal is up to you and as long as you’re getting some benefit from that’s all that matters.
