As a Mindset and Productivity coach for perfectionists, I am always preaching to my clients the benefits of developing a regular journaling practice when it comes to healing their perfectionism.
It is a beautiful way to pause, reflect and grow.

What is mindfulness?
In simple terms, mindfulness is all about being present and fully aware of what’s happening at the moment without judging or getting caught up in your thoughts or feelings.
It is a great way to develop your mind-body-soul connection and stay grounded in your reality. It allows you to pay attention to your thoughts, feelings, sensations and surroundings with curiosity and kindness.
It’s not about trying to fix or change anything, it’s simply about being present and acknowledging your existence.
When I started to develop a regular mindfulness practice, I noticed that I became calmer and had a much clearer mind – no more overthinking or trying to control everything.
You can practise mindfulness in many different ways:
- Mindfulness meditation
- Mindful journaling
- Mindful eating
- Mindful walking
- Mindful body scan
- Mindful drawing
It’s all about being present and at one with yourself.

Why mindfulness journal prompts are great for perfectionists
Mindfulness journal prompts are an amazing tool for perfectionists who want to start their healing journey. It helps you develop the skill of increasing your self-awareness and helps you create space in your mind away from your overthinking and anxiety.
The more you do, the better you will get and you will start to put a lot of the stressors in your life in perspective. You’ll realise how your perfectionism is holding you back and you will learn how to let go without completely freaking out.
Moreover, perfectionists tend to be overly critical of themselves especially when they don’t meet their unrealistic standards.
Mindfulness journal prompts will also help you challenge your limiting beliefs and promote regular self-compassionate thinking patterns.

- Choose an object nearby and describe it in detail. How does it feel in your hands? What is its texture? What do you notice about it?
- What affirmation makes you feel the most grounded?
- What can I focus on right now to bring me to the present moment?
- Who can I reach out to for support if I feel ungrounded or overwhelmed?
- What do I need to let go of so that I can feel grounded, safe and supported?
